Modernist Design by famous company Maison Desny,Paris. Very rare model of matching sconces with extreme stair-stepped skyscraper design. Fantastic quality restored chrome plated bronze metal featuring thick glass with all polished edges. The fixture has dynamic effect when lit. Maison Desny was a highly innovative company whose short lived career produced some of the most emblematic and futuristic art deco designs manufactured during this period.
The company owned by Rene Mauny, M. Desnet – the principal designer, Louis Poulain, their staff designer and their financial backer, M. Tricot, ended in 1933 with the passing of the principal Desnet and the political instability of Europe. They specialized in modern objects, especially lighting fixtures that featured glass and chrome-plated metal; they also produced silverware, bath accessories, carpets and murals. Their art deco style incorporated Cubism, modernism and skyscraper designs using very simple and yet dynamic materials.
