Daum Nancy Art Deco Acid Etched French Glass

Item #2485 SOLD

This geometric 1920′s Art Deco deeply acid etched glass vase bears the signature Daum Nancy.  There is a nice weight to the thick walled heavy glass. It  has a  beautiful pale citrine yellow color etched right through to the clear. A fabulous design consisting of geometric stylized leaves and flowers off-set by strong smooth vertical bands intersecting the geometric motif and joined together with a smooth banded edge at the top. It looks stunning as the light catches it. We have had many exceptional pieces over the years and this ranks right up with the best of them .

It’s an over- sized piece  standing 11″ tall  with a very wide opening  of 9″ x 9″. It  is fully signed around the bottom edge DAUM NANCY FRANCE. As is the case with this beautiful glass, the photos do not do it justice

Daum Trade Card

The Daum company began in 1878, rose to prominence at the turn of the century winning the medal of honor in 1900 . The techniques of ” pate de verre “, of acid etching and the embrace of Art Nouveau styling made Daum one of the most popular and important  glass companies in the world. Daum, and its rival Lalique, were the French masters that did so much to elevate the art of glass and to establish the rise of “Art Deco” design through the ‘teens, the 1920s and 1930s.
