French Art Deco Egyptian Dancer in bronze signed Janle
Item #1422 SOLD
This classic tall Art Deco Egyptian dancer has all the accoutrement one would expect from a wonderfully rendered bronze of this period. Janle is an artist most closely associated with Max Le Verrier where some of his work was executed at that foundry. This particular pieces leaves no doubt about the influence on French culture with the 1922 discovery of Tutankhamen crypt. There are some wonderful details in the gilded head dress and matching tunic skirt, both showing the deco diamond shapes so specific during this tremendous period of creativity. The marble base is also very beautiful, using both the white marble with black and gold Italian portoro lines. Clear signature on the bottom of the foot.
