Art Deco Sculpture by Pierre Le Faguays "Lariat" Bronze
Art Deco Sculpture by Pierre Le Faguays "Lariat" Bronze. Very large and rare male figure in cold painted green patinated bronze finish of male throwing a rope, mounted on a bronze wedge shaped base. Tremendous details, unusual texture portrayed in a form rarely seen in Art Deco sculptures. Signed P Le Faguays on the base with foundry stamp and marked bronze. One of the most prolific artists for sculpture associated with the Art Deco movement.
PIERRE LE FAGUAYS (FAYRAL) (1892-1962) Pierre Le Faguays was a best friend of sculptor Max Le Verrier and the “Le Verrier” foundry made most – of Le Faguay’s pieces. Fayral and Pierre Laurel were 2 pseudonyms he also used. Though some pieces signed Guerbe were thought to be the work of Le Faguays they were created by his wife, Raymond Guerbe.
