Ikora WMF Pair of Dinanderie Art Deco Vases with Tops German

Item #3593

Ikora WMF Pair of Dinanderie Art Deco Vases with tops or lids. This German art deco dinanderie vase was made by the Ikora workshop of WMF (Wurttembergishe Metalwarenfabric) ca. 1930. The vase’s bulbous shape has a simple decorative linear pattern on all sides, including the top, with original ivoroid round handles. These were made for the European market, as the mark says Alemania and not Germany, as most imports are signed for the North American market.

The overall condition of both vases is very nice, as seen in the photos. There is a minor variation of the design shown in the pictures. In one, the gold intersecting lines go to the top. In the other, it stops before the lid. I purchased these both together. You can see the variations. The overall feeling is silver with a delicate gold (brass) line on all sides. The vase has the WMF mark on the base. The stylized tower is derived from the emblem of Geislingen, a local landmark defensive tower. This mark was used from 1925 to 1950.
