Complete Art Deco Silverware Service for 12 by Christofle in Fitted Wooden Chest

Item #3423 SOLD

A set of  Christofle silverware in a complete service for 12 in a velvet-lined fitted chest. This is the modernist “Cirta” Pattern with 125 Pieces in all. Each piece is nestled in its own compartment with the five beautiful serving pieces displayed at the top. It was made in the 1930s and imported from France to Buenos Aires during the “Golden Age” when Argentina was a very wealthy country, bringing in luxury goods from Europe to sell in the fancy housewares shops that lined Florida Street and Avenida de Mayo.

The box with its fitted sections has been re-lined in French Blue fabric, and the wooden box itself with two locked drawers and brass fittings adds to the decor.

The set includes dinner forks, knives and spoons, Luncheon forks and knives, fish forks and fish knives, and teaspoons and dessert forks.

This makes an outstanding wedding gift or a treasure that will become an heirloom but we encourage polishing it very occasionally but using it often as the very best way to enjoy silverware like this. Keeping silver in a chest like this one will maintain it relatively tarnish-free.
