Perrier Jouet Champagne Bucket by Christofle
Item #2188 SOLD
Classic and collectible Silver plated champagne bucket created especially for the famed winemaker Perrier Jouet of France by the equally famous French company Christofle. Deeply embossed lettering bears the name of the champagne and the symbolic lion heads grace both sides of the vessel.
Perrier Jouet was founded in 1811 and is one of the oldest companies in the world to be continuously producing champagne. The lions reference the appointment to “His Majesty King George V”. We guarantee you, too, will feel like royalty sipping the bubbly when chilled in this piece made by Christofle and recently restored.
The champagne bucket was featured in an illustration on the cover of Fortune Magazine in 1937
And here is a photo of our own “Mr. Rick” with that cover, enlarged, at the SFO Museum this year
