Art Deco Dinanderie Metal Vase

Item #2760 SOLD

This dinanderie round vase is rendered with  a subtle mixture of patterns .  ”Dinanderie” is a type of metalwork that originated in Dinant, a region in Belgium which began to produce elaborate designs in mixed metals for both domestic and ecclesiastical objects in the Medieval era.  Lanterns, candelabras, even church doors were made with hand set designs in copper, brass and silver.

Jean Dunand created a revival of the techniques in the 20th century with decidedly modernist designs and the use of mixed metals to embellish vases such as the one we offer became so popular in the “Deco Era” with geometric shapes like this one that uses a copper globe as its base with brass designs.

There is a small area that has some visual flaws  but it does not spoil the usefulness of the piece as a vase
