Art Nouveau Silver Dessert Spoon Set by WMF

An Art Nouveau Dessert Spoon Set (often referred to as a “Berry Spoon Set” ) is a rare find in its original case. Made by the German company WMF (the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik ) in the early part of the 20th century, it features the stylized wheat pattern that was popular as an embellishment in Art Nouveau design.

The set includes one large serving spoon and twelve small spoons, perfect for serving desserts, berries or ice cream. They could also be used as an elegant tea or demitasse spoon. Perhaps this was originally a wedding gift, as the exterior is timeworn but the inside is in excellent condition as are the delicate silver pieces inside.

There is a stamp on each piece, “WMFN” which refers to both the maker’s mark and the Nickel Silver material from which it was fashioned.
