Art Deco Rosewood Airplane Model on Carved Oak Base
A highly unusual Art Deco wooden model of a prewar monoplane, beautifully carved with a solid rosewood fuselage and wings. The aircraft is fitted with wood and metal propellers, along with carefully rendered cockpit and mechanical details that give the model a strong sense of character and movement.
The airplane is shown in flight above a dramatically carved mountain peak made from solid oak. This sculptural base creates the impression that the aircraft is sweeping over a rugged landscape and gives the entire composition an impressive sense of height and motion.
We have handled many vintage airplane models over the years, but have never encountered another example of this particular design. Its combination of fine woods, hand carved construction, and imaginative presentation makes it an exceptional decorative object for a collection of Art Deco design, aviation history, or transportation memorabilia.
