Max Le Verrier Art Deco Cat and Bulldog Bookends
A charming pair of vintage Art Deco figural bookends by the celebrated French artist Max Le Verrier, depicting a seated cat and bulldog. Each animal is beautifully modeled with wonderful character and finished in silvered metal.
The figures arrived without their original marble bases, so we created custom fitted stone bases that complement the sculptures and give the pair a fresh and distinctive appearance. Their geometric stepped forms provide stability while adding another strong Art Deco element to the design.
Both figures are signed “Le Verrier” on their circular bases in the artist’s typical manner. These are authentic vintage examples and not newly made reproductions. They remain in very nice condition with some expected signs of age and use.
Functional as bookends and equally appealing as small sculptures, this amusing cat and bulldog pair would add personality to a bookcase, desk, mantel, or library.
