A charming Jugendstil design on this small silver jewel casket with lock and key from the famed WMF foundry. Lined in red velvet and accompanied by its tiny key and handmade tassel it has a handle on top and graceful buttresses on the sides in which extra things may be stored. It would look equally at home on a man's dressing table or a woman's vanity and could be useful and decorative.
The initials stand for Wurtembergische Mettalwaren Fabrik, a German company that produced glorious home decor and tableware during their golden age (or perhaps we should say " silver age " of 1900-1920s)
