Italian Art Deco Sant Elia Silver Candlestick, 1940s
Italian Art Deco Sant Elia Silver Candlestick, 1940s. This very rare and original design could be attributed to Arrigo Finzi. 800 silver mark on the bottom including hallmark initials and manufacturer trademark. industrial design, the lower part has a slightly textured speckled look (intended) to offset the candle holders which all have a smooth finish. Each candle holder is carefully fitted into the base to give this unique design a kind of free-floating elegant effect.
Having not found any reference for this exact design, this could be a one/off singular design. Certainly the quality of a French Desny design, but in silver makes this a very special and unique piece. Would make a great centerpiece for a dining table or buffet, a strong visual effect overall. From my limited research, it appears that some very original designs from this company and designer were completed during the 1930s-1940s. In near perfect restored original condition, just recently polished.
