A very special French Art Deco lamp by Edgar Brandt, widely regarded as one of the most important masters of Art Deco ironwork. The lamp is signed E. Brandt on the foot, consistent with the manner in which his work was typically marked.
The original metalwork has a refined architectural presence, combining strength, elegance, and the hand worked quality associated with Brandt’s finest designs. The wiring appears to be original and includes a wonderful period Bakelite on and off switch. The alabaster shade is new, carefully copied from examples used by Brandt during this period, preserving the proper look and proportion of the piece.
