French Art Deco Machine Age Theater Sconces
A striking pair of French Art Deco theater sconces with a strong Machine Age presence. These large scale fixtures combine a satin nickel finish with half round frosted glass shades, giving them a clean architectural look with a distinctly industrial character. They are not the typical French molded glass sconces commonly seen on the market. Their design is more unusual, with a bold streamline quality that feels closer to a period theater, cinema, or commercial interior.
Each sconce is anchored by a three tier disc backplate, giving the fixture depth and visual strength. The original bayonet style sockets have been professionally converted to candelabra size sockets, allowing a wider choice of bulbs and making them much easier to use today. Each fixture has two light sockets, creating a warm and even glow through the frosted glass.
Originally used in a theater, these sconces would be excellent in a commercial setting, a streamline modernist home, or a private home theater. The condition is excellent, and the pair is ready to hang and use immediately. Nothing further is needed to put them into service.
