Richard Fishman, owner of ArtDecoCollection, first encountered this desk as an intriguing but unverified piece of Hollywood history. The seller told him it once belonged to Harry Cohn of Columbia Pictures, but could not produce the original photograph that supposedly showed Cohn seated behind it. What Richard did have was the desk’s striking oval racetrack shape, which was enough to justify bringing it into the collection. What followed would transform a simple restoration into the rediscovery of a remarkable artifact from early Hollywood.
