A striking Art Deco occasional table with a wonderfully sculptural profile, combining a generous circular top with a smaller integrated lower shelf. The design is defined by its sweeping curved supports, which rise dramatically from the rounded pedestal base and create a strong sense of movement. The warm figured wood and rounded edges soften the geometry, giving the table an unusually graceful presence.
The asymmetrical construction is especially appealing. Three curved wooden bands wrap around the lower portion of the table, visually connecting the secondary shelf to the larger top while creating an almost architectural composition. Small stepped details at the outer edges add another subtle decorative element. Viewed from different angles, the table changes considerably, making it as much a piece of sculpture as a functional furnishing.
Dating to approximately the 1930s, this is an excellent example of Art Deco furniture design moving away from traditional cabinetmaking toward cleaner forms, sweeping curves and inventive use of space. It works beautifully beside a sofa or lounge chair, or as a distinctive centerpiece in a seating arrangement where its unusual construction can be fully appreciated.
