1920s Art Deco Wicker and Rattan Reclining Lounge Chair
1920s Art Deco Wicker and Rattan Reclining Lounge Chair
A rare 1920s wicker and rattan reclining lounge chair with a beautifully woven chevron pattern. The design is especially striking because of the three tones of blue worked into the natural rattan surface, giving the chair a strong decorative presence while still retaining the relaxed character of early twentieth century leisure furniture.
The back adjusts to three reclining positions, allowing the chair to be used upright or in a more relaxed lounging position. The footrest slides out to full length when needed and can be tucked neatly beneath the seat when not in use. This practical design gives the piece the function of a chaise lounge while keeping the compact form of a reclining chair.
The woven color panels make this example particularly unusual. The combination of natural rattan, blue patterned panels, and the geometric chevron design gives the chair a distinctive Art Deco feeling. It is a rare and highly decorative piece that would work beautifully in a sunroom, covered terrace, bedroom, or relaxed seating area.
Imagine yourself in a tropical setting, a sun porch or a luxury liner deck, relaxing in style on this perfect antique chaise in very good original condition.
