Pair of Custom Art Deco Fer Forgé Iron Tables with Portoro Marble
These exceptional Art Deco iron tables were custom made exclusively for ArtDecoCollection.com in the French fer forgétradition. Each table has a richly veined black/whitemarble top, with a second marble shelf set into the lower base. The ironwork has the strength and refinement associated with the great French metalworkers of the period, especially the work made famous by Edgar Brandt.
The design combines hammered metal surfaces, sculptural legs, cut out geometric supports, and decorative floral inspired details. The legs curve inward as they descend, creating a graceful architectural form that gives the table movement from every angle. The marble adds richness without overpowering the ironwork, making the piece useful as a side table, drinks table, or accent table in an Art Deco interior.
Very few artisans today can execute this type of hand worked iron with this level of character and presence. These are not mass produced decorative tables, but custom made pieces created in the spirit of the original French Art Deco tradition. They are substantial, unusual, and built to last for generations. Two examples are currently available.
