Custom Art Deco Wrought Iron and Alabaster Table Lamp
Custom Art Deco Wrought Iron and Alabaster Table Lamp
Art Deco ironwork and alabaster on a grand scale. This impressive table lamp is part of our collection of custom lighting created using traditional French fer forgé, or hand wrought iron, techniques.
The design is inspired by the extraordinary ironwork developed during the 1920s by celebrated French artists such as Edgar Brandt, Raymond Subes, and Paul Kiss. Their work demonstrated how heavy iron could be transformed into something refined, rhythmic, and almost delicate.
The warm aged alabaster shade produces a beautiful amber glow when illuminated. It is supported by a substantial hand forged iron structure with an elongated central column, detailed metalwork, and an open geometric base. Every component has been carefully designed and constructed using traditional blacksmithing methods, giving the lamp the character and presence of old world craftsmanship.
It is remarkable to find artisans still capable of producing this kind of work today. The process requires both the physical strength necessary to shape iron by hand and the artistic sensitivity needed to create a balanced and graceful finished design.
A matching pair is currently available. The listed price is for one lamp.
