Set of Six French Art Deco Dining Chairs with Original Red Upholstery
Set of Six French Art Deco Dining Chairs with Original Red Upholstery
A stylish set of six French Art Deco dining or side chairs dating from the 1930s. The frames have an unusual, beautifully proportioned design with tall tapered backs that continue into slender elongated legs. Their clean lines and elegant silhouettes give the chairs a particularly refined appearance.
The original upholstery has a very smooth, leather-like finish in a subtle shade of red that contrasts beautifully with the dark wood frames. The fabric remains in nice original condition, showing only minor signs of its approximately 90 years of age. It could easily be replaced if desired, but the chairs are comfortable, serviceable, and ready to use as they are.
The wooden frames retain a warm, attractive patina that adds to their authentic period character. During the 1930s, dining tables and chairs were not always purchased as complete matching sets. These versatile chairs could be paired successfully with many different French or European Art Deco dining tables.
We have several Art Deco dining tables available that would work beautifully with this set. Please visit our dining room section to see the current selection.
