Bauhaus Style Vanity and Chair Black Lacquer Streamline

Item #2824 SOLD

Bauhaus vanity, mirror and black lacquer chair streamline furniture set. Aerodynamic style is characteristic of the industrial and domestic design of the late 1920s and 1930s. European origin set could possibly be from Germany or Bohemia. The vanity and stool furniture construction pioneered in early 1920, simple design with adjustable mirror and 4 small matching round glass shelves. Two drawers on the left and right, with simple metal treatment. Bauhaus, the seminal German school for modern design

All wood has been refinished with new black lacquer, all metalwork is original. New fabric on the chair. Combination of wood and metal a very standard treatment in Bauhaus design.

The Bauhaus relied on the industry, in fact, they began to design furniture that could be easily produced by the industry and therefore were also cheaper than traditional handcrafted furniture. The Bauhaus furniture has simple and essential lines, which also made it easier to transport and ship.
