This exceptional large scale Longwy vase is a dramatic example of French Art Deco ceramic design from the 1930s. The tall architectural form is built in a series of stepped sections rising from a faceted base, with broad panels of deep cobalt blue alternating with finely detailed floral decoration in cream and gold. Strong vertical bands emphasize the height of the vase and beautifully follow its sculptural form.

The floral panels are particularly elaborate, combining stylized blossoms, leaves, gold centers, and small blue accents against Longwy’s characteristic crackled enamel ground. Rich gold decoration finishes the upper rim and base, while the deep blue enamel provides a striking contrast throughout. The combination of geometric structure and stylized floral ornament is especially characteristic of the finest decorative work of the Art Deco period.
