Large Boch Frères Ceramic Cloisonné Vase, Charles Catteau Era, circa 1930
Large Boch Frères Ceramic Cloisonné Vase, Charles Catteau Era, circa 1930
A striking large ceramic vase made by Boch Frères during the Charles Catteau era, circa 1930. The piece features an unusual and vivid color treatment, with strong blue and orange decoration set against a crackle glazed background. The design uses a ceramic cloisonné technique, where areas of color are visually contained within outlined forms.
The hand decorated surface gives the vase much of its character. In several areas, the enamel color appears to move slightly beyond the line, a quality often seen in Boch pieces from this period and part of the charm of their handmade production. The vase remains in perfect condition, with no repairs or restoration.
