Sabino Art Deco Stepped Waterfall Glass Table Lamp
Sabino Art Deco Stepped Waterfall Glass Table Lamp
A rare and striking Art Deco table lamp by Sabino, featuring a dramatic stair stepped architectural form reminiscent of a modern skyscraper or cascading waterfall. The beautifully molded glass is filled with geometric details, combining strong linear forms with softly rounded decorative elements.
The glass is embossed “Sabino Paris Déposé” and marked with model number 4670. This is an unusual Sabino design that we have not encountered before, making it an especially interesting piece for collectors of French Art Deco glass and lighting.
The lamp has been professionally rewired and fitted with a new shade. A three way switch allows the upper light, the illuminated glass base, or both sections to be used independently. This makes it possible to create anything from a soft atmospheric glow to fuller room lighting.
Marius Ernest Sabino (1878–1961) was one of the leading French glass and lighting designers of the Art Deco period. His work was influenced by the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, which celebrated the finest achievements in modern decorative design.
During this period, Sabino created some of his most original work, moving from the flowing curves of Art Nouveau toward the stronger geometric and architectural forms of Art Deco. His imaginative use of molded glass, texture, and illumination placed his work among the finest French lighting designs of the era.
