This large and impressive Art Deco bust depicts an elegant young woman of the 1920s, beautifully modeled in bronze and mounted on a substantial marble base. Created in Italy circa 1930, the sculpture captures the sophistication and glamour of the period through its stylized facial features, graceful profile, and refined geometric treatment.
The bronze has developed a warm, attractive patina with only minor signs of age and normal use. The sculpture is signed G. Cacciapuoti, as shown in the final photographs. It remains in excellent original condition with no visible damage or repairs.
During the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, several European cities became important centers for figurative bronze sculpture. Paris attracted artists from throughout Europe, including Demetre Chiparus, Paul Philippe, Marcel Bouraine, and Pierre Le Faguays. Vienna was associated with sculptors such as Josef Lorenzl, Bruno Zach, and Franz Bergmann, while Berlin became known for the exceptional work of Ferdinand Preiss and Otto Poertzel. Italian sculptors developed their own distinctive interpretation of the modern female figure, often combining classical beauty with the streamlined elegance of the Art Deco movement.
