Art Deco Elephant Sculpture Mood Lamp, France, Circa 1930
Art Deco Elephant Sculpture Mood Lamp, France, Circa 1930
A striking French Art Deco elephant sculpture lamp dating from circa 1930, crafted in patinated art metal with richly colored antique red glass insets. When illuminated, the glass produces a warm crimson glow, transforming the sculpture into a dramatic mood light and decorative accent.
The architectural lantern is embellished with detailed embossed patterns inspired by Indian and Middle Eastern mosaic designs. These repeating geometric motifs continue around the lantern, along the ornamental covering draped over the elephant, and across the circular base, giving the entire composition a unified and exotic character.
The beautifully modeled elephant supports the illuminated lantern on its back, creating an imaginative combination of sculpture and functional lighting. The lamp is particularly atmospheric when used with a dimmer, allowing the intensity of the red illumination to be adjusted.
The piece remains completely original except for professionally updated wiring. It separates into three sections: the decorative crown, the lantern support, and the elephant body, allowing convenient access when the light bulb needs to be replaced. It is in excellent condition and would make an impressive accent lamp, ambient light, or sculptural focal point in an Art Deco interior.
