"The Chemistry of Art" is an original oil on panel painting by French artist Pascal Jarrion, created in 2025. The composition brings together a stylized artist's profile, a framed picture or mirror, a painter's hand at work with a loaded brush, and the scrolled form of a violin, all woven into a single dense, layered arrangement.
Pascal's distinctive visual language draws on Cubism, still life, and self portraiture, treating the act of painting itself as subject matter. Sharp geometric facets define the face and framed elements, while the rendered hand and brush introduce a more fluid, gestural note within the otherwise angular composition.
