Art Deco Dimensional Panther Painting in Original Frame
An unusual Art Deco painting depicting two stylized panthers moving through a richly detailed tropical landscape. The familiar Art Deco theme of panthers in the wild is given a distinctive interpretation through the heavily applied paint, which creates an almost sculptural, dimensional surface.
Look closely at the remarkable textures throughout the composition. The panthers, trees, foliage, rocks, and colorful fruit are built up with thick layers of paint, giving the entire scene depth and movement. The technique is unlike anything we have previously encountered and makes the painting especially intriguing.
The artwork appears to have been painted on a rigid board that is reinforced within the frame, as shown in the photographs of the back. It remains in its original frame, which has its own textured painted finish and complements the unusual character of the artwork.
