Christofle Metal Vase by Luc Lanel Circa 1925 Art Deco

Item #3534

The Christofle Metal Vase designed by Luc Lanel circa 1925 is a notable piece of Art Deco design. Luc Lanel was a French designer who was closely associated with the Art Deco movement. He worked for the prestigious French luxury company Christofle, known for its silverware, flatware, and decorative objects.

This model is called “Ecailles” or Scales, as the intertwining of silver plating with the red-brown creates this repeat pattern. It was also featured on the cover of the Christofle 1925 catalog. Lanel’s designs often showcased a blend of geometric forms, stylized motifs, and a focus on craftsmanship. His work during the Art Deco period, which peaked in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterized by its modern, streamlined aesthetic.

Christofle was known for using high-quality materials and skilled craftsmanship in their creations, so this vase would likely have been a showcase.
