Art Deco Limoges Tea Coffee Dessert Set Service for 16
Item #2717
An Art Deco Limoges Tea Coffee and Dessert Set of top quality and beautiful design. This is a grand set, service for sixteen with two pots (regular and decaf or coffee and tea) two beautiful serving platters, two covered tea caddies and enough cups and saucers for lavish entertaining. We can envision this as the basis for an abundant high tea spread for a party, a birthday or bridal shower!
A streamlined yet delicate pattern in pinks and golds is the decorative touch, along with the classic gilded handles and trim often used by this maker “La Vielle Abbaye” of France. The square shape of the tea and coffee pot is distinctive as well. It is important to note that there were more than fifty different porcelain manufacturers and decorators in the 1920s, each with a separate name and distinct style. ”Limoges” (often mistaken for a brand name) is actually the region of France with exceptionally fine clay that is used in the creation of china pieces. Porcelain is not “by Limoges”, it is actually “from Limoges” and boasts fine, nearly translucent whites with either hand painted or hand transferred designs.
