Vintage Lucite and Polished Brass Bar Stools by Designs for Leisure, circa 1980
Exceptional set of three vintage bar stools by Designs for Leisure, combining Mid Century Modern design with strong Art Deco influences. Made circa 1980, these stools feature substantial clear Lucite construction accented with polished brass and steel. The quality of the materials and construction is outstanding, and the stools remain in excellent overall condition.

The design is particularly distinctive, with comfortable upholstered backs, an uncommon feature in vintage Lucite bar stools. Sculptural Lucite disks are intertwined around the central steel supports, creating an unusual decorative detail while maintaining the clean, transparent quality of the design. The stools are exceptionally heavy and substantial, giving them excellent stability. The seats and backs are upholstered in a light grey Ultrasuede that remains attractive, with some minor wear consistent with age and use.
Designs for Leisure was based in Mount Kisco, New York, and became known as a high quality seating resource for the interior design trade beginning in the 1980s. This set is an excellent example of the company's sophisticated use of luxury materials and finely constructed seating.
