French Art Deco Silver Plated Tea and Coffee Service
A refined French Art Deco silver plated tea and coffee service, early twentieth century, consisting of five pieces in total. The set is marked BB and shows a level of quality not commonly found in many silver plated tea and coffee services of the period. The design is clean and architectural, with a slightly tapered form to each serving piece and elegant Art Deco banding that continues around the body.
The set retains its original silver plating, which remains in excellent condition. The wood details are especially attractive, with fine quality wood used on the handles and lid fittings. The interiors appear exceptionally clean and look as though the pieces were never used. The cream and sugar retain their original gilded gold vermeil interiors, adding a rich contrast to the silver plated surfaces.
The matching tray has a handsome faceted edge that gives the service a more finished and formal appearance. There are a few scratches on the tray, but they do not take away from the overall presentation, especially when the full service is displayed together. This is a very attractive and highly usable French Art Deco serving set with strong period character and excellent visual presence.
