Bel Geddes Machine Age Table Desk Lamp Faries Cobra Streamline Art Deco
Item #2509 SOLD
Art Deco streamline lamp, complete and restored. A favorite of mine, the famous “Cobra” lamp. Although commonly attributed to Normal Bel Geddes, J.O. Reincke is the listed designer on the patent filed with US patent office in 1946. Given this date, the lamp was most likely designed and produced beginning prior to WWII.
This lamp has been fully restored and all external parts professionally copper plated. The original bulb reflector attachment is present and makes a huge difference in the way the lamp lights and looks. The original switch and bakelite socket have been replaced with new like kind. The power cord has been replaced with reproduction rayon covered cord and appointed with a reproduction bakelite style plug. New felt has been applied to the bottom of the base. The lamp uses a standard edison light bulb.
