Large 1930s French Glass Sconces • Pair
Item #1108 SOLD
This pair of one-of-a-kind sconces (you can tell this is going to be a fun sentence) has attributes too numerous to count. First, there are seven different types of glass used in the shade portion of each fixture. Each particular glass type possesses a unique color and relief and as such, possesses a unique light diffusing personality. The glass’s vibrant strong deco colors and corresponding geometric shapes are stunning, both with and without illumination. The detailed (and hefty!) nickel fixture cases were newly custom constructed to house these rare shades. These substantial sconces are really quite striking. In fact, I’d say they’re “Hollywood-dramatic” – Especially when used as the only light source in a room. They make a very bold statement when mounted very close together on a wall but are just as beautiful when spaced. Each fixture can hold up to two bulbs.
