Item #3585 SOLD
One of Zenith’s best-looking classic consoles was made just before World War II in 1940. Last of the Shutterdials, this twelve-tube radio has been completely refurbished and plays very well with strong selectivity. It has the Wavemagnet internal antenna and the famous TV/Phono jack. Virtually flawless cabinet stripped and refinished with proper lacquers & toner and gleaming finish. With its sleek styling and black “robot” dial, this large Zenith 12-S-471 console typifies a great design period in radio history. Add a quality 12-tube chassis inside this luxurious wood cabinet and you have a gorgeous combination. Sight and Sound may be the best yet.
Its striking feature is the large round oval in which the dial is centered. Constructed of fine walnut veneers, including matched burl walnut, it is a high point in mass-produced cabinetry. We have completely refinished the cabinet and have restored the electronics for optimal enjoyment and also added the auxiliary jack that allows you to “pipe” music from your smartphone, iPod, etc. through the radio to enjoy more than just the few AM radio stations. The radio has all factory original knobs, grill cloth, wave magnet, and speaker. The dial is clean with no crazing or deterioration.
