1938 Fairbanks Morse Console Radio Art Deco
A striking 1938 Fairbanks Morse console radio, this piece combines superb craftsmanship with an unforgettable presence. Its gorgeous backlit dial glows in deep reds and greens, while the “Magic Eye” tuning tube serves as both a practical guide and a captivating design element. Radios of this period were more than sound devices—they were the centerpiece of the living room, bringing families together for music, news, and entertainment.
We have added a 1/8th inch aux input so you can connect to an external device or Bluetooth transmitter. This will allow you an unlimited choice of content, which will allow you to use this with your iPhone, smartphone, iPod, or record player. Access your old vinyl, or log on to Pandora, Apple Music, or the playlist on your computer to provide the tunes and use the Bluetooth connection to bring the warm, bright, analog sound of a tube amplifier to any music or recordings you choose. The quality of the sound is excellent – just ask any guitarist, since these kinds of tube-based amps are still being made and used today. You will have the best of “digital” and “analog” combined.
This example features a 6-tube chassis (type 6A) with superheterodyne circuitry and multiple band coverage, including AM broadcast, shortwave, and the historic police band. It retains its original 8-inch electromagnetic speaker for warm, authentic sound and has been fully restored to working condition. A discreet 3.5mm jack has been added, allowing you to connect modern devices via Bluetooth or aux cord while preserving the radio’s vintage character. Housed in a beautifully proportioned wooden cabinet.
