Art Deco Decanter and Whiskey Set in Style of Karl Palda

Karl Palda's decanter and glasses are some of the finest pieces we've ever offered. While all of his designs from the Art Deco era in Czechoslovakia are remarkable, this set is particularly noteworthy for the size of the glasses. Unlike the typical small liqueur glasses, these are larger and suitable for serving bourbon, scotch, or whiskey—perhaps with a single large ice cube for added flair and chill.

The two-tone yellow and ebony in sleek modernist designs beautifully complement the clear, frosted, and fluted glass combination. Bohemia's Deco crystal and glassworks were incredibly advanced; the pieces produced in the 1920s and 30s were undoubtedly at the forefront of cubism, avant-garde, and the “Deco” style. While France often receives credit for this era, Czechoslovakia was also a vital center for this technique. Among all the designers of that era, Karl Palda stood out as one of the most inventive and ahead of his time.
