Pierre le Faguays, French sculptor male figure in green patinated bronze. Modeled as a man wearing a loincloth and leaning on a pole. Tremendous details, unusual texture portrayed in a form rarely seen in his Art Deco sculptures. Signed P Le Faguays on the base with foundry stamp L.N. Paris J.L. model #7 and marked bronze. One of the most prolific artists for sculpture associated with the Art Deco movement. We have seen other versions of his strongman-warrior male sculptures.
Pierre Le Faguays (FAYRAL) (1892-1962) Pierre Le Faguays was a best friend of sculptor Max Le Verrier and the “Le Verrier” foundry made most of Le Faguay’s pieces. Fayral and Pierre Laurel were 2 pseudonyms he also used. Though some pieces signed Guerbe were thought to be the work of Le Faguays they were created by his wife, Raymond Guerbe.
