Limousin Art Deco Hoop Dancer and Dog

Rare Art Deco sculpture signed Limousin on the metal and on the base. French design of hoop dancer teaching her dog to jump through hoops. Her features are quite perfect : her youthful cheeks and lips, beautifully rendered hands and feet and a lovely pose. All of this is mounted on an exceptional piece of marble with great veining and pattern.

There was no country producing such excellent sculpture as did France during the Art Deco period, and this  piece is a wonderful example of the artistry.  Signed ‘Limousin’ in the metal. Limousin is a region in France that was a known for artists and sculptors, and often the region of production was used to identify a work rather than a company or artist’s name.  This is a genuine period piece and is breathtaking  in person.
