Art Glass Elephant Sculpture Lights Up
Item #2153 SOLD
This glass elephant sculpture from the Art Deco era lights up with a warm glow. It is a substantial, moulded representation of a majestic animal, set on a sleek chrome base with a tiny light that illuminates it to show off its form.
There is hand finishing and the kind of depth of detail that made the French glaziers so esteemed. When people think of art deco glass they so often think of Daum, Lalique and Sabino. We are always pleased to find other examples like these, unsigned but unique.
During the height of the Deco period, two countries that contributed greatly to the decorative arts of the time were France and Belgium, both of which had colonies in Africa and that inspired the fascination and representation of the animal kingdom in sculpture.
