1920s Art Deco Porcelain Japanese Figure W/ Bird • Marta Schlameus
Item #1224 SOLD
Here’s a highly decorative and intriguing 1920s German Art Deco statue from the Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst (Schwarzburger Porcelain Art Workshops). This beautifully detailed and colorful porcelain work of art was designed by the artist Marta Schlameus. The colors comprise a white porcelain glaze, with blue, teal, yellow and black overglaze. Depicted is a young, spry (and rather animated) Japanese man, dressed in a colorful costume while sitting upon a tree stump. A bluebird is perched on his right hand as he looks upon it and gestures playfully with his left hand. The bottom of the base is stamped Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst and U-290.
