SOLD
Two original color etchings by Louis Icart featuring naughty nudes on paper. These pieces are artist proofs, hand-signed, right corner in pencil by Icart himself. They are original, matted, and framed in glazed giltwood frames, showcasing the elegant style of early 20th-century France. The etchings are dated and signed 1926, with the copyright marked on the verso by “Gravure Modernes,” located at 194 Rue de Rivoli in Paris.
These early and rare pieces would be a valuable addition to any Icart collection. They are notable for their sexy, somewhat carnival images, original frames, shape, and Art Deco perspective.
Louis Icart (French, 1888–1950) is celebrated as a symbol of the Art Deco movement for his exquisite sketches and prints. Born in Toulouse, France, Icart’s passion for art blossomed early, with a particular interest in fashion sketches and designs. This perhe iod marked a shift in the fashion industry, transitioning from conservative 19th-century styles to the sleek simplicity of the early 20th century. Icart worked in prestigious fashion studios, with his work featured in prominent fashion publications and design studios across Europe and the United States. By 1925, his immensely popular images were considered phenomenal.
This listing is for the two pieces I purchased together. They look great and are very well balanced in shape, and I am selling them as a pair.
