Art Deco painting of Spanish Dancer by Yves Diey
Wonderfully evocative painting by Yves Diey from the 1930's of a Spanish Flamenco Dancer with bartender and patron in the background . Diey was a French artist who worked in oils, watercolors and lithographs, most often rendering semi-nudes with a style that is reminiscent of the early work of pinup artist Alberto Vargas...but in a more painterly style.
Yves DIey was born in Paris in 1892, and was most prolific during the 1920s-1950s. He lived until 1984. He won a medal in 1942 at the Salon des Artistes Francais and the quality of his work in the "Art Deco Era" of 1925-1950 is richly detailed and sensual.
This piece bears a clear signature, the canvas and paint are in excellent condition without crackling or loss of color. It is also presented in it's vintage, carved frame that complements the piece.
