This is a very rare and unusual dual wood panel made in France most likely during the Constructivist period in the early 1930s. Constructivism was an artistic and architectural movement in Russia from 1919 onward which rejected the idea of "art for arts sake" in favor of art as a practice directed towards social purposes. Constructivism as an active force lasted until around 1934, but its influence continues through mid-century design. This work of art is made entirely of wood that has been painted, treated, molded, textured, carved and manipulated to create a geometric, asymmetrical and dramatic effect.
