Art & Statues
The silver panels are impressed with French maker’s marks, including an oval punch that appears to read “L & P” or “LP,” consistent with Parisian silversmiths of the era such as Luc Lanel for Christofle or Léon Pérès. Both were known for their refined metalwork and for combining silver with fine exotic woods. The square and star marks indicate French silverplate manufacture under the Gallia or Christofle house, noted for their modernist collaborations during the 1920s and 1930s.
This rare box is not only a functional object for card play but also an elegant example of Art Deco design where geometry, luxury materials, and modern artistry meet. Pieces of this quality reflect the best of French decorative craftsmanship between the wars and are increasingly sought by collectors for both display and use.
