Art Deco Napier "Dial a Drink" Cocktail Shaker Silver
Item #2378 SOLD
The “Dial a Drink” Cocktail Shaker was a clever invention of the Art Deco Era that combined an elegant silver shaker with a full list of recipes for each libation. With a twist of the wrist , one can line up the name of the cocktail and then view the ingredients as they appear in the cascade of open windows below.
The design was patented by Napier, an American Company that created several versions in the 1930s. Our model is marked on the bottom ”US and Foreign Patents Pending” and is a rare two tone example in copper and silver from 1935. It swivels easily, is in perfect condition inside and out and the cap doubles as a measuring jigger.
If you have wanted to know how to create a classic Deco Era Drink, “Here’s How”, and with the Dial-a Drink, the directions are automatically revealed, permanently stamped in silver and copper.
The titles of the drinks happen to be many of those that are “on trend” again today as there is a quest for re-creation of classic cocktails. You will find the recipe for current favorites Manahattan, Side Car, Dry Martini and Tom Collins, But there are listings for the Palm Beach , Bronx and Between the Sheets and of course, an “Old Fashioned” if you would like to sample something straight from the Jazz Age.
