the finest Gorham Cocktail shaker set ever made

Item # 206 SOLD

We are proud to present possibly the finest Cocktail shaker set ever made in the USA or maybe the world. This luxurious set was manufactured by "Gorham Company of Providence Rhode Island between 1926-1929. Gorham was very courageous to produce a few Art Deco and Modernist sets complete and in "sterling silver."

The set was designed by Danish silversmith Erik Magnussen who worked for Gorham during this short period of time. This set has many wonderful design details hard to picture, but I've done my best. Magnussen uses the 3 line detail on every piece from the very moderne tray to the ultramodern glasses. This glass shape was so ahead of its time, eventhough today we consider this the classic martini glass shape, during that period, the shape was much more like a tulip.

This set includes a shaker at 12" tall (also 3 pint stamped on bottom), 8 glasses at 5.25" tall and a tray with ebony handles at 15"W. Each piece is stamped and marked with the following information:Gorham, sterling, A14082, the initials of the designer EM in a stylized representation. Also the name M.F. Lewis in very small bold print. The quality is the best you can expect and the set is in mint condition.
