This sophisticated Ruhlmann design carpet is one of our most popular carpets. The tan/beige background works well with almost any interior and the symmetric/geometric black and white details offer flexible design options.
About Ruhlmann:
Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French designer, painter and building contractor whose designs epitomised the glamour of the French Art Deco style of the 1920s. As early as 1910, he exhibited his wallpaper and furniture designs at the local Paris salons. In 1919 he founded along with Pierre Laurent, the company “Ruhlmann et Laurent”, which employed up to twenty young designers at a time. He also consulted freelance designers including Ivan Da Silva Bruhns (a very important rug designer). Ruhlmann retailed a wide range of floral medallion and geometric designs and his legacy as a designer was the subject of a major retrospective exhibition at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2004.
