Art Deco Round Tea and Coffee Set by Christofle

Item #2371 SOLD

A version of this Art Deco Tea set was originally designed by Christian Fjerdingstad in 1930 for Christofle and was used in the ultimate setting of Deco Luxury- the great  French ocean liner Normandie.

The unusual round, and voluptuous shape of the teapot, coffee pot and creamer are streamlined style at its best! Heavily plated in silver, and with ebonized handles , clean and perfect inside and ready to use for an elegant dinner or teatime…or simply as a decorative accent on your buffet.

Tea in the Grand Salon Normandie

“Thank you, I will take my tea in the Grand Salon aboard the S.S.Normandie”

Each piece and the tray are marked Christofle and the condition is excellent. Christian Fjerdingstad was a Danish Designer who worked as a gold and silversmith for Christofle. He is credited with being a major contributor to the Art Deco Movement, but you can see the beginnings of Mid-Century Danish Modern style in his work as well.
